Labyrinth Center is working on a number of proposals to bring Life Trainings to youth. In other words, we want to help create useful work and vocatinal training for teens. We're currently pursuing a model that would have youth build access ramps at elderly and/or disabled homes for wheelchair access. Also, we're looking into a model that would have youth build houses undedr the supervision of an contractor to earn school credit, get hands-on vocational training, and create moe affordable housing due to lower labor costs.
California Conservation Corps
The California Conservation Corps (CCC) Tahoe Center has lost almost 66% of its funding in the pst 18 months, largely due to the huge budget deficit in California. Labyrinth Center is pursuing funding to replace some of the services for the CCC's sorpsmembers who are from 18-23 years of age. We're looking to create five basic models:

Who'z Runnin's Stuff--Management & leadership Training
Workin' 4 a Livin'-Transition & Emancipation Skills

Student-Run Businesses
Labyrinth Center is interested in helping start student-run businesses to help create more responsible teens. In addition, too often these critical Independent Living Skills are taught in a classroom setting. Bret Stephenson is currently assisting the following companies with such projects:

North Columbia Academy Labyrinth Center has been consulting with NCA to create a student-run business for fundraising, as well as weave Hero's Journey dynamics into the overall school program. |
