A workshop dedicated to the spirit of youth, using subtle approaches to work them at deeper levels.

The Adolescent Spirit is a weekend workshop that puts into practice the concepts and techniques introduced in the Adolescent Mind workshop.  Child care workers or parents wishing to expand their skills and deliveries in working with adolescents will practice and refine some creative “tools of the trade.”  Participants will design and practice a variety of approaches in the classroom in preparation for using them with adolescents.

Workshop topics and skills include:

~ Guided Imagery and Visualizations

~ Storytelling

~ Personal mythologies and metaphors

~ Dreamwork

~ Transpersonal writing

~ Mask Making

~ Exercises and group topics

~ Collage and other artwork

~ Conflict Resolution

 ~ Interpersonal Relationships

 ~ Unconscious vs. Conscious

~ Shadow (Individual and Cultural)

As you can see, most of these approaches are creative and work youth at multiple levels.  The artwork gives them a permanent honoring of their process, while Dreamwork, Personal Mythologies and Guided Imageries allow their unconscious dynamics or issues to surface in a safe and intriguing way. While The Adolescent Mind is a good introduction to some of this material, it is not required.
Time Frame: 24 hours
